My sculpture and photography are going to be displayed at the Wyland Gallery in Laguna Beach! What an awesome opportunity!
We just got back from a nice visit with the gallery manager, he was very complimentary of my work. It is really nice to have my work affirmed by someone who sees a lot of high-quality sculpture.
Wyland, a world famous marine sculptor, got his start in Laguna Beach. He gives back by showing emerging artists' work in his gallery once a month, since it is very hard for a new artist to get work shown in a good venue. They are going to give me the entire front lobby of the gallery for a day, New Years Day, which is also during the Laguna Beach Art Walk. So a lot of people will see my work in a very high-end gallery. Thank the Lord!
I bought a new utility trailer to haul our stuff to art shows. Of course I had to get a red one. It's big enough to carry all of my booth supplies (canopy, walls, pedestals, etc ) and some artwork, but small enough to fit in the garage so I don't have to pay to store it somewhere. It is 5x8 feet inside with nice wood paneling, interior lights and ventilation. I got it at Trailer's Plus in Fillmore.
Here is wonderful new way to present a photograph, like a mural! I took one of my favorite photographs from a trip to Africa, a female lion we came across just after sunrise. She turned to listen to the chuffs of some other lions we had seen moments before. I love how she seems so thoughtful, and the morning light was fantastic! The photo was divided into nine parts and printed on separate boards, then tied together with twine and hung from a four inch diameter length of bamboo. It really adds to the safari look and feel!
