Letting Go
It's always hard to let go of a piece of art and call it finished. That wonderful terrible time when you have reached the goal, but still aren't quite there. Everyone loves how it looks, and it matches up well with that vision in your head, but there are still some details that could use a little more massaging and tweaking.
But there are deadlines, and at some point it has to be called done so you can move on to the next magical piece. And you really have to ask yourself, is it really going to be that much better if I change this or that? Or am I just procrastinating again?
We have this kind of problem on the animated film I am currently working on. To be fair, it probably happens on all films, it's just that this one is particularly deep in the vortex of indecision about what to change and what to just finish. Lots of changes are made because the creative people in charge keep thinking up new ideas. At some point, especially when time is running out, you just have to get on with it.
So it is with Running Free Dancer. But it's okay to let go, because I am already developing sketches for the next sculpture.
